Let Me Answer The Basic Q's

About Us. Our Relationship. Camper Living. Road Life.

FAST INFO
I am 23 years old and Miranda is 21! We both graduated high school at a teeny tiny school with 90-100 people in both of our graduating classes. After being in college for 2+ years, we decided to stop living the life that others picked for us and live the one WE wanted. We quit college, got online sales agent jobs, and left Tennessee in December of 2021 to start our journey to see all the new things. We have three dogs and three cats that love living our crazy life with us. They might as well be our children.
Okay, on to the good stuff ;)

RELATIONSHIP
Some would consider us "high school sweet hearts"... except we did NOT like each other in high school so I don't really think it counts.
We really met in 2019 working at a summer camp for children with disabilities through a mutual friend(s). I was cautious about befriending her at first because I was assuming she was the same person as she was in high school ***LIFE LESSON: People change after high school!*** I am WAY glad that I let my guard down because SHE IS THE COOLEST PERSON EVER. Our relationship went from having mutual friends to being inseparable within just a few months.
We both were in relationships with men at the time that we met and continued to have boyfriends for a while. Until it clicked... Best friends don't normally plan on having each others babies or building a house together or getting married. We ditched our boyfriends and completely fell in love with each other and with the idea of having one another for the rest of our lives... cheesy, sorry.
We stayed a "secret" for a few months until we both were comfortable with idea of telling our families and the rest of the public. Looking back now, I don't think it was very much a secret considering everyone assumed we were dating already. I couldn't have dreamed our "coming out" story to have been any smoother than how it went. Relationships have been tested, grown stronger; there's new HEALTHY communication and unforced, natural love flowing throughout our lives now.

CAMPER LIFE
We went from having a 3 bedroom house, in a highly populated area of Tennessee; to a 25 ft pull behind travel trailer on whatever piece of land we could park on. The story behind that idea:
Out of the three bedrooms, living room, dining room- we chose to stay in the same room 99% of the time that we were home. We had all of this space and all of this stuff that was so pointless to have. I felt stuck in TN, I was so tired of seeing the same things and the same people. I am a dreamer and SOMETIMES a doer... Miranda, however, is a FULL TIME DOER.
We threw the idea around of purchasing a class c motor home; after budgeting and weighing out the pros/cons, we decided a pull behind camper and truck would be a better move for us. Within a few weeks she had scheduled three different appointments to look at used campers as well as two appointments at the local RV store to decide what kind of style and size we wanted. We ended up buying the most PERFECT camper in the whole wide world.
In the humid summer of 2021, you would find myself with a drill, unscrewing all kinds of screws that I had no idea what they went to. Anddddd you would find Miranda hauling out whatever structure I had just taken apart to the road of our neighborhood house.
When I say neighborhood house, I mean like we had a neighbor on both sides of us 40 ft away. A little driveway. We weren't exactly in the safest part of town either. Also I had never backed up or driven a trailer so the parking job was ummmm *Unique*. But look, we got the job done and we only had to ask for minimal help. WE ARE WOMEN, HEAR US ROAR! (My mom taught me that, shoutout to mom.)
The renovations that we did were pretty simple but made a HUGE difference to us. We removed the fold up bed/couch, the table and chairs, and all the generic camper stylings. Next step was paint- walls, cabinets, and a little mural. Then we moved in and it has been ever-changing since then. Eventually I'll do a post with before and after pictures of our little home on wheels.

Cross Country Road Trip
We started our road trip/ new life off by going to Gatlinburg, TN for New Years with Miranda's family. We stayed at a pretty busy RV park for about five days. It was super hard to park partly because we were still pretty new at driving it and partly because it was a tight spot, cold, rainy, and dark.
From there we went to Arkansas and "boon-docked" (meaning we parked somewhere for free with no water or electric hookups) on the way there. We made a stop at the Crater of Diamonds State Park. The idea behind the park is super cool, we didn't really have much luck. Still a cool experience though.
We ended up getting Covid on the way to Texas so we decided it was probably best to park for a week or two and get some rest. Texarkana, Texas became our home for the next 9 days. The Texas sky is HUGE, the land is so spaced out, and there are sooooo many cattle farms!
Our crew arrived in a little city in New Mexico, near the border of Texas on January 14th, 2022. We have fallen in love with the simple life here.
Traveling is great but we still have to take breaks to work and budget for the next set of trips. So, we got jobs helping to manage the RV park we are staying at and absolutely adore it. Every other week we are responsible for trash pickup, check in/ outs/ reservations, cleaning the office and public bathrooms, and keeping up with the site to make sure it looks welcoming! We plan on staying here until March or April and then will hit the road towards California (awesome couples job opportunity... stay tuned!)

Thanks for reading and staying updated :)
